Hi Vance,

Just thought I would send a letter to extend my sincere appreciation for making such an excellent product (BigLeash remote trainer) available to the general population. I purchased my German Shepherd as a pup and did the usual training classes but with little success. I then enlisted private tuition and spent a lot of time and money on lessons that served to increase my frustrations. The lessons that I attended centred on using a choker (or 'check') collar but despite investing many hours my dog seemed to be getting worse. She was responsive to commands in the privacy of our own yard but was extremely anti-social, especially toward other dogs, which made walking her an absolute nightmare. It made little difference if the choker collar was on or not as she was so determined that even the hardest jerks on her collar would not shift her focus. It finally became so bad I could not leave the yard with her.

As a result of these failures in training I opted to explore a different training method, which was one of 'positive re-enforcement'. I started out with individual lessons, which my dog responded to really well, but again the techniques would only work in an environment which had no distractions. Although I had voiced my concerns about the anti-social behaviour of my dog I was told that this was only an anxiety and she would respond really well to being in classes with other dogs. Acting on this advice, and being open to try anything that may help, I decided to enrol in the dog training school.

The training school was held indoors and the first night was dreadful. My dog was definitely not interested in pig's ears, liver treats, barbequed chicken or anything else offered, but only wanted to get to the other dogs. I was reassured by the trainer that she would settle down over the next couple of weeks and to 'persevere'. By the 3rd week I was asked to sit outside and listen to the training as my dog was 'too disruptive' for the other class members.

What was a major concern for me with this training method was the teaching of 'no hierarchy' and now my dog was starting to display anti-social tendencies toward people, especially my 3 young children. She started to 'nip' them on a regular basis (sometimes quite hard) and was 'jumping up' on them and knocking them over. In the end my children could not go outside to play as they were 'scared of the dog'. I found it extremely difficult to positively reward such negative behaviour, however I persevered.

At the 6th week of the course I was asked to leave and was told that my dog was 'untrainable'. I was advised to seriously consider having her put down because she was now becoming quite dangerous. I was obviously upset with this as I regarded my dog as a family member but decided it would be the best course of action for the safety of my children.

I had now invested several hundreds ($700 +) of dollars on training (and training aides), not to mention the time, and my dog was becoming worse with each passing week. As an absolute last resort I decided to purchase one of your BigLeash remote trainers. I only wish I had done this in the first instance as it would have saved so much time and money.

Since purchasing my 'BigLeash remote trainer' I have seen the most amazing change in my dog's anxiety and subsequent behaviour. I now have no hesitations when walking past other dogs and what was once an extremely difficult and concerning exercise is now a pleasure. I often encounter other people struggling to control their dogs whilst mine just stays by my side and doesn't even attempt to pull on the lead. It is amazing how regularly I hear comments such as, 'I wish my dog was as well behaved as yours' or 'I've attended all the dog classes and it's just my dog's personality'.

The BigLeash remote trainer has given me absolute peace of mind and I have never seen a product that could work so well and so quickly. It is in no way cruel to the animal, as after a couple of low level pulses my dog knew exactly what was expected of her, and I am sure she appreciated this far more than having a metal chain being jerked on to her throat. Although I use the remote trainer very regularly it is a rare occasion indeed that I ever have to use more than the vibration function, as my dog responds to this immediately. What a pleasurable change from being unable to take my dog out of the back yard to now allowing her to run free in a reserve or along the beach knowing she will be back at my side with a touch of a button regardless of what is happening around her.

My dog is now an integral part of our family and the children just love to play with her, especially my 3 year old daughter. The Big Leash remote trainer is, without any doubt, the best money I have ever spent on my dog and I cannot recommend it highly enough for other dog owners, regardless of their personality, especially large breeds. I tell other dog owners to do themselves (and their dog) a favour and 'just get one'.
